The Thai people call foreigners “Farang”. It is a bit of a derogatory term here even though the Thais are generally very kind, welcoming, accommodating, smiley, and nonconfrontational. I usually feel like I stand out and can immediately be pointed out as a foreigner, but when I was walking by myself around town I felt like I was treated as a local. They spoke to me in Thai and no red taxis honked at me. It feels weird to blend in for once!
Farang or no?
